Union Bay Place
Union Bay Place is a 98-unit mixed use development situated between Seattle’s University Village Mall and the single-family residential neighborhood to the northeast. It sits adjacent to the junction of two of two former logging rail lines that informed the bent form of the building. Rail-inspired details appear throughout including in the sidewalk paving pattern, wood bench seating, and the feature trellis extending down the facade at the fold in the building and connecting the lobby entry up to the club room featuring a cross-laminated timber roof. The project features a number of sustainable features, including rooftop solar panels, energy-efficient assemblies, and rain gardens and bioretention swales at street level and on the second-floor patio.
