Amal joined the firm in 2018 and was drawn to architecture because “it’s a profession where I am able to combine my love for design with issues of social equity and human experiences in the built environment.” She strives to find a balance between thoughtful, creative design and the real world constraints of codes, budgets, and scheduling. Amal is also a member of the Tau Sigma Delta National Honor Society for high-achieving students in architecture and the allied arts of design.

Ana (she/her) has over a decade of experience contributing to the design and delivery of several nationally recognized sustainable buildings, such as Eleanor, Batik, and Cypress.

Throughout the design and construction phases, Ana excels at identifying optimal solutions for each project while skillfully managing the constraints of code, budget, and schedule. Her ability to strike this balance ensures that every endeavor is a seamless and successful one.

Beyond her exceptional technical skills, Ana is a mentor and resource to Runberg’s staff. She freely shares her extensive knowledge in construction, code compliance, and technical expertise, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Archie (he/him) brings more than 19 years of professional experience in all phases of the design and construction process. He believes that creating strong, collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors is the best way to ensure that projects succeed. His past projects range from garden style apartments to adaptive reuse and urban mixed-use projects.

Brett brings almost two decades of experience working with a number of project types in various phases of the design and construction process. Brett’s design experience is focused on high-rise tower design and Type-I construction projects. His work results in high-quality designs and excellent deliverables from schematic design through construction documents.

In 30 years as a practicing architect, Brian has worked to create livable, sustainable communities while carefully balancing the sound economic needs of each project. Since founding the firm in 1998, Brian has led the design of award-winning projects throughout the West Coast and the firm has become nationally recognized for designing some of the most energy efficient mixed-use projects in the U.S. His firm has received a total of 50 Pacific Coast Builders Conference Gold Nugget Awards, which recognize architectural design and planning excellence around the world.  His advocacy for appropriate urban housing for all and passion for historic preservation are evident in the studio’s body of work.

Additional accolades include nine NAIOP Night of the Stars Awards, four National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Awards, and two U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED Homes Awards. In 2021, Brian was named Designer of the Year through the Puget Sound Business Journal’s Commercial Real Estate Leadership Awards, and the firm was recognized in 2019 and 2020 as one of Washington State’s Most Equitable Workplaces.  Outside of the office Brian is currently the Co-Chair of Urban Land Use (ULI) Housing Council and on the Board of Directors for the Swedish Cultural Center and The Rex Theater Foundation.   Previously, he has served on the Queen Anne Community Council land use review committee, and the Low-Income Housing Institute (LIHI) fundraising committee. He is an active and founding member of the Seattle and Bellevue 2030 Districts, a public- private collaboration with the mission to reduce environmental impact within the built environment.

Charla joined the firm in 2021 with over 12 years of experience as a designer and architect. Having worked on elementary schools, emergency shelters for those experiencing homeless, and senior housing, Charla finds that designing multifamily projects gives her a wide range to have an impact on livability, equity, and affordability. “I strive to design multifamily projects that people are excited to call home, and to optimize developers’ resources to be able to serve the most people as effectively as possible. I work hard to bring underutilized voices into the design conversation, both by facilitating community input in the projects I’m involved with whenever possible, and by mentoring and advocating for young architects from different backgrounds.”

Corinne’s (she/her) work is defined by her passion for sustainability and for affordable housing projects. She has an exceptional eye for color and design, as demonstrated by her vivid atmospheric drawings. Corinne marries energy and dedication to her craft, approaching every project that crosses her desk with creativity and enthusiasm.

Gabe (he/him) joined Runberg in 2025 and brings with him considerable job site, carpentry, and fabrication experience. He stumbled into architecture after an early education in industrial design & 3D sculpture led him to residential construction, and eventually into pursuing a Master in Architecture from the University of Washington.  His passion for architecture stems from his advocacy for more dense housing as well as a desire to design sustainable spaces that are centered around community, equity and affordability. His past work ranges from DADUs, single-family homes, public, and community-centered project types.

Hannah (she/her) approaches architecture as a collaborative process rooted in curiosity, continuous learning, and a commitment to social impact. Her interest in the design and development of affordable housing drives much of her work, which is grounded in the belief that housing is a human right and that thoughtful design can meaningfully improve access and quality of life.

Hannah is particularly inspired by how the built environment shapes daily experience. Because so much of life unfolds within designed spaces, she values architecture’s unique ability to support well-being, create connection, and reflect the needs of the communities it serves. This perspective informs her goal of creating sustainable, life-giving environments that respond directly to the people who inhabit them. With a focus on equitable and community-oriented design, Hannah views each project as an opportunity to bring diverse voices into the conversation and to contribute to a more inclusive built environment.

Holly (she/her) has a diverse academic background with a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies and Human Geography and a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington’s College of Built Environments. With over seven years of education and practical experience in architecture, urban design, and community development, Holly brings a strong foundation to her work. Her passion and strength are in housing and sustainable design, informed by a deep commitment to creating vibrant, livable communities. Holly has also developed strong skills in urban analysis, data compilation, and ecological integration through her extensive volunteer work in environmental conservation. During the design process, Holly’s focus is on finding thoughtful and efficient solutions that maximize social, environmental, and economic value, while carefully balancing design intent with project constraints.

Jason (he/him) has broad experience in multifamily residential properties, having worked on projects ranging from low-incoming housing to luxury high-rises. Innovation is a driving theme in Jason’s work, and he strives to promote new ideas and solutions at every phase of the design process. Jason enjoys anything design related, whether it be developing building concepts, drawing details, or building furniture. He continues to hone his design voice through experimentation, dissecting the built environment, and by tinkering with anything he comes across.

As an Iñupiat member of the Kikiktagruk community of northwest Alaska, Jennifer (she/her) brings Native perspective and influence into her work in the multifamily industry in Seattle. Understanding that respect for the land as well as the history and methods of its original stewards is vital to creating architecture that strengthens communities, she aims learn from and incorporate indigenous knowledge into the design process. She has experience working internationally as a Cultural Design Consultant as well as volunteering locally to engage Elders and Youth in creating spaces that are culturally informed, inclusive, and responsive to the communities they serve.

Jessica (she/her) joined Runberg Architecture Group in 2011 and pioneered the use of Revit in rendering applications for the firm. As a Project Manager, Jessica values highly-integrated, refined, and timeless design and believes that being cost-conscious during the planning process can be inspiring. Jessica says, “Design doesn’t need to suffer from budget constraints. The principles of thoughtful composition and scale applied to durable yet cost-effective building materials and systems can result in truly great design within budget.” In her role as Project Manager, Jessica strives to “walk the walk” of the Runberg Architecture Group’s vision of carefully balancing the social, economic, and environmental aspects of a project to achieve true sustainability.

Kelly (she/her) has over 20 years of professional experience in a variety of project types including hospitality, education, healthcare and multifamily/mixed use.  A passion for quality urban housing solutions and environmentally responsible design led her to join the firm in 2013.  Kelly manages our Revit and Building Information Modeling standards and training.

Maksym joined the firm in 2016 while studying architecture at the University of Washington, where he completed his Masters of Architecture in 2020. Maksym believes a design is successful when it in integrates into the existing fabric of the city by allowing people to prosper in place, be sheltered, and create long-lasting memories of the home they live in. As a hobby, Maksym enjoys woodworking and furniture making and says he loves the culture at Runberg “because it’s rooted in collaboration, innovation, and thoughtfulness that manifests itself in every project we have an opportunity to work on.”

After graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University, Margaret (she/her) spent a summer working on public space design in Kenya before ultimately relocating to Seattle in 2012. She has been working on a range of projects since then and is most passionate about projects that provide much needed housing density to the city of Seattle, especially those incorporating affordable housing. Margaret is also an active member and former board member of AIA Seattle and an avid advocate for diversity within the profession. In 2021, Margaret won AIA Seattle’s Young Architect Award. She continues to volunteer her time with the AIA Seattle Diversity Roundtable, working on projects with communities of color and providing youth of color with introductions to the architecture and design industry.

Mat is committed to excellent design and thoughtful detailing for urban living environments.  Mat’s 20 years experience in multi-family housing design provides a great foundation for effective team management, communication and problem-solving.  Mat enjoys working with diverse groups including owners, contractors, consultants, city representatives, and community members to create award-winning, community-anchored, multi-family housing.

Melissa (she/her) is passionate about promoting urban density as a sustainable approach to population growth. She is committed to architectural design that is sensitive to its urban context with interior spaces carefully considered to enhance the lives of the building’s inhabitants. Her clear communication skills, extensive onsite experience, and appreciation for the entire project team add value throughout the design process.

Since joining Runberg Architecture Group in 2006, Melissa has worked on a wide range of projects and has led several projects executed in collaboration with other design firms, such as 8^th & Republican with the Miller | Hull Partnership and Google/Lakefront Apartments with Graphite Design Group. Melissa is a part-time lecturer at the University of Washington’s Department of Architecture teaching mixed-use, multifamily design in the graduate level housing studio. She also teaches a class on Site Feasibility & Yield Studies through the UW Commercial Real Estate Program.

Michele (she/her) has more than 20 years of design experience that includes residential and commercial buildings, and civic spaces. Her attention to detail and broad knowledge of design make her an asset to all projects. At Runberg, she provides leadership on design issues and has established standards that promote the consistent high-quality of the firm’s work.

As a principal in charge with a focus on affordable housing, Michele has led award-winning design executed within constrained budgets. She engages closely with the clients and community to gain an understanding of their goals for the project, including the specific needs of senior housing, homeless housing, student and family housing. She has served as a volunteer member of the City of Seattle Southeast Design Review Board and is an occasional guest critic at the University of Washington Department of Architecture.

Michele was named a 2019 Housing Hero by the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI). LIHI Executive Director Sharon Lee said Michele’s “design sensibility has resulted in wonderful places for our residents to live and thrive.”

With over 8 years of experience as a designer and architect, Nidhi (she/her) started with Runberg Architecture Group in 2018, left to work in Florida for a few years and returned to the firm in 2025. Her portfolio includes a range of projects, from luxurious single family residential projects to large scale market-rate housing developments like Gridline Apartments, JIB, 1710 12th, and Brizo, and historic preservation endeavors such as the Knights of Columbus and the Beardmore Building tenant improvement.

Nidhi is committed to designing spaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. She believes that great design is rooted in community and environmental consciousness. By fostering collaboration and embracing diverse perspectives, she strives to create innovative, detail-oriented, and sustainable solutions for her clients while enriching the lives of those who use the spaces.

Patrick (he/him) has been an integral part of Runberg Architecture Group since 2017. Patrick’s natural leadership, managerial sense, and wide array of skills have greatly enhanced the management and culture of the firm.

He leads the development and implementation of firm policies and procedures; coordinates and oversees the contract processes; manages the administration of HR policies, programs, and practices within the firm; and maintains accounts payable, and receivables. He thrives on being in a position where his love of spreadsheets, planning, and helping people can all come together in one place.

In his spare time, he enjoys cooking for his husband and friends, spending time with his dog Bailey, as well as traveling, doing house projects, and expanding their ever-growing wine collection. He has also been an active member of the Society of Design Administration’s (SDA) Seattle chapter since 2019 and has also served as a Director on their Board of Directors.

Peter brings over 20 years of experience delivering residential, civic, and mixed-use projects. He focuses on technical development and construction administration, translating design intent into clear, coordinated, and buildable construction documents. His background spans municipal and institutional work as well as housing and mixed-use developments, giving him a broad understanding of project complexity at multiple scales.

Peter is known for producing thoughtful, well-detailed buildings and for his ability to resolve technical challenges with clarity and precision. His work balances design intent with performance, code requirements, budget, and constructability; ensuring projects are not only well-designed, but practical to build and durable over time.

Sean worked as a Designer for Runberg from 2016-2018, and then returned to the firm in June 2022. He is passionate about multifamily projects that provide comfort, wellness, and have a focus on sustainability. Sean’s first project at Runberg, An Lạc in the Little Saigon neighborhood of the Seattle International District, provided a fulfilling challenge of making the units work with the unique shape of the site, as well as giving the building design elements that fit into the context of the community. Sean draws on inspiration informed by his own experiences as a tenant, using his intuition and feedback from clients and end users to design spaces that are efficient, comfortable, and beautiful. The impact Sean seeks to make on the world is simply stated: “I just want to give people a place to live that does more good than bad.”

Stefanie’s (she/her) experience involves various project types ranging from high-end residential to historic renovation. Her passion is creating useful and beautiful spaces and integrating sustainability into their design. For her, the best part of working on affordable housing is helping shape a project and neighborhood to impact people’s lives in a meaningful way.

Stephen (he/him) joined Runberg Architecture Group in 2021 after completing his Master of Architecture degree at University of Michigan. He brings elements from his experience working on commercial interiors, industrial, laboratory, and adaptive re-use to his multifamily design approach. Stephen prioritizes a contextual and human-centered focus by keeping in mind the importance of blending a wide array of perspectives and preferences when designing places where people want to be. Mixed-use is Stephen’s current favorite project type and he enjoys the unique challenges of melding the variety of requirements and uses of a building.

Sue specializes in creating visual design narratives. She is interested in designing sustainable, walkable urban spaces with a keen eye for detail. Committed to blending functionality with aesthetics, she wants to create environments that enhance fine-grained urban experiences while prioritizing environmental responsibility.

Tyler’s (he/him) customer service background includes several years of customer education and event coordination, lending itself to his various office and project coordination duties at Runberg. As a lifelong learner, he strives to learn something new with every project so he can be a resource to help those around him succeed.
