Awards: Sitka named USGBC LEED Homes Project of the Year finalist

Sitka has been named a finalist for the LEED Homes Awards Project of the Year! The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is celebrating the best of green homes and is letting the public decide who gets the top honor.

Vote for Sitka now through June 29!

Green homes provide healthy, sustainable living spaces where people and the planet thrive. USGBC’s LEED green building program sets the standard for what it means to be a green home and certification is a signal that the home meets the highest sustainability standards.

We are pleased to share that Sitka is LEED for Homes Platinum certified, the first in the nation for a multifamily project. Cutting-edge technology includes a Wastewater Heat Recovery system (WWHR), the first of its kind for this application in the U.S., that captures heat from outgoing wastewater and reuses it for domestic hot water heating; and a greywater harvesting system that diverts water from showers and laundry for on-site irrigation. Additional green features include electric car charging ports, Energy Star appliances, LED lighting, low-VOC paint, and ductless heat pumps in every south- and west-facing unit.

The Project of the Year and other LEED Homes Awards recipients will be announced in July. Learn more about each nominee here.
