Mathew Lipps promoted to Principal

We are pleased to announce that Mathew Lipps, AIA, has been promoted to principal.

Lipps has 20 years of experience, with a decade at Runberg Architecture Group. His broad experience managing diverse projects has resulted in numerous award-winning, community-anchored, multifamily housing projects throughout the Puget Sound.

“Mat’s commitment and dedication to the detailed execution of these complex developments has been central to our firm’s achievements,” Brian Runberg said, Runberg principal and founding partner. “His conscientious approach consistently contributes to a successful product.”

Lipps is skilled at project management, technical precision, and realizing thoughtful design into viable projects. He is currently overseeing several projects, including SPUR Apartments, 1710 12th Ave, Vivo Roy and Vivo Mercer. Previous projects include the Eleanor Apartments among others.

“Part of the reason I’ve enjoyed working with Runberg for over a decade is the positive relationships we have with our clients and project partners,” Lipps said. “They are similar to the people in our firm: hardworking, dedicated people who are all committed to creating inviting and human-scaled housing, no matter the size of the project.”

He currently coordinates the teams in the construction phase and collaborates with an internal team for quality assessment/quality control. In addition, Lipps serves as an advisor for Runberg’s continuing education committee to “close the feedback loop” from design through construction completion, providing in-house lessons-learned sessions and standard industry training opportunities.

With his promotion, Lipps is looking forward to expanding opportunities to mentor others in the firm.

“At Runberg, the entire office works together as a collective team,” Lipps said. “A key part of being an architect is collaboration – relying on others, and them knowing they can rely on you. We all care and have a deep regard for our clients’ objectives, the places we build, and each other. I am excited to continue being a part of this effort, especially now as part of the firm’s leadership team.”

Lipps holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington, and Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Ohio State University. He also has fun with his friends and family: hiking, biking, camping, and enjoying great food.
